My belief as a spectacle wearer is that an anti reflective coat is of mainly cosmetic benefit particularly for full time wearers . I find it makes no difference to my driving even at night . I detest it when these are automatically sold to all patients and I voice this opinion . Problem is a a lot of optical assistants just do as they are told and if they manage to sell an AR coat on 90% of their Px ‘s dispenses ( many of whom are cash strapped OAP’s or computer users who just want some basic reading/intermediate specs )…. then they are put in the category of really good dispensers ! It is not a skill to “oversell” to a naive layman who puts their trust in you . I thought our job was about being honest and giving best advice !! How does an AR coat cut down glare on a PC or did I miss that lecture at uni ????
